"Red Desert" Patch Goes Live: Can Five New Mounts Save the Day?
When the loading bar for fast travel no longer feels like an agonizingly long silent movie, perhaps it's time to re-examine the narrative pacing of this desert. Today, the official team for Red Desert formally released the latest update patch. This patch, version 1.01.00, is like trimming redundant scenes from a somewhat slow-paced road movie.

The five newly added summonable mounts, including the Frost White Bear and Silver Fang, seem to offer new companions for the lonely traveler. However, mounts are not merely a means of transport; they are also regulators of narrative pacing, determining the frequency with which travelers glimpse the world. Significantly reducing fast travel and resurrection loading times certainly makes death feel less like a heavy interruption. But the deeper question remains: does this acceleration of movement signify a pursuit of the soul, or is it merely haste to cover up emptiness?
From another perspective, the upgrades to Quenching Currency and equipment stages are merely another inflation of the numerical system, lacking support from dramatic tension. The cooking menu's new instant craft function that requires no material selection, and the personal storage's new "deposit all items" function—these conveniences are like putting an exquisite cover on a rough script. The PS5's new fixed 4K output option, stability and performance optimizations across all platforms, and crash fixes—polishing at the technical level cannot conceal the dimness of the narrative core.

This patch not only adds 5 summonable mounts but also significantly reduces fast travel and resurrection loading times. Unfortunately, these optimizations feel more like repairing a building with an unstable foundation, difficult to support grand epic ambitions. On a narrative level, the increase in convenience does not resolve the issue of thin character motivations. For players seeking immersion, this update is worth trying, but if you expect a qualitative transformation in the story, perhaps you'll have to wait another season.
