"Treasure Hunter Expert" Official Version Released! What Can Match-3 + Roguelike Create?

I was scrolling through my phone on the subway when I suddenly saw that the official version of "Treasure Hunter Expert" had launched. I played this game during its beta test at the end of last year and found it quite interesting - the combination of match-3 and roguelike was indeed fresh.

The gameplay is actually not complicated - just match blocks to fight monsters. But unlike regular match-3 games, blocks can be moved horizontally or vertically at will, and you can switch directions, which greatly expands the operational space. After defeating monsters, you can buy relics to add buffs, getting stronger as you play - this formula is very similar to card games like "Slay the Spire". The 16-bit pixel art style is also pleasant to look at, with a bit of that "Octopath Traveler" vibe.

The biggest surprise is the multiplayer mode, where up to eight people can play together. The rules are a bit like auto chess - the last two players are eliminated each round, and whoever survives to the end is the champion. This competitive feel is much more exciting than single-player, and it's perfect for a quick match during commute time.

The official Steam version is already playable, while the Switch version will have to wait until June 17th. If you usually enjoy relaxing games like "Stardew Valley" but want some strategic depth, this game is quite suitable. It's easy to pick up, but mastering it requires thinking - the developer's claim of "easy to learn, hard to master" really isn't an exaggeration.

However, to be fair, this type of roguelike game can get repetitive after playing for a while. I suggest watching some gameplay first or waiting for a sale, because whether the combination of match-3 and deck-building suits your taste is something you'll only know after trying it yourself.
