Dragon's Dogma 2 specs drop drastically, GTX 1660 can run it
Capcom has officially lowered Dragon's Dogma 2's PC system requirements, dropping the minimum GPU bar to a GTX 1660. The revised spec sheet covers both the base game and the upcoming Dark Arisen DLC. The publisher's stated reason: recent updates have improved the PC version's optimization.
That's a genuinely rare move — AAA publishers almost never cut requirements unprompted. In this case, the adjustment doubles as an admission that Dragon's Dogma 2's hardware demands at launch were too high, and as evidence that the post-launch optimization work actually paid off.
The new minimum calls for an i5-8500 or Ryzen 5 3500 CPU paired with a GTX 1660 or RX 5500 XT 8GB, plus 16GB of RAM. Capcom rates that setup at 45-60 FPS in 1080p performance-priority mode with FSR, or 45 FPS at 1080p in quality-priority mode. For a game built on split-second dodges and precise inputs, 45 FPS is playable but not crisp, and in large-scale battles every hit will land with a bit less weight than it should.

The recommended tier steps up to an i7-10700 or Ryzen 5 3600X with an RTX 2070 Super or RX 6600 XT, and RAM holds at 16GB. In 1080p performance-priority mode with DLSS or FSR, that configuration targets 60 FPS, while quality-priority mode goes up to 2160p (4K) at 45 FPS. Ray tracing has its own entry: the floor there is still an RTX 2080 Ti or RX 6800, and that bar hasn't budged. Capcom also cautions that frame rates may dip in high-load scenes and recommends an SSD.

The detail that matters most is the DLC. The revised requirements apply to Dark Arisen too, so the expansion ships with the friendlier baseline already in place — one standard, no separate hardware tier. The takeaway: Dragon's Dogma 2 now asks less of your PC than it did at launch.

For anyone still on the fence: if you're sitting on a GTX 1660-class card and bounced off the game at launch over performance, this is a good moment to buy in. The DLC runs on the same specs, so there's no second upgrade to plan for. Hardcore players chasing ray tracing and 4K still have to clear the RTX 2080 Ti / RX 6800 bar. And Capcom has already given fair warning about high-load scenes — frame rates will dip when they dip.
