Fog Hunter Launches July 30 With an Open Test Ahead of Release
Mistfall Hunter will launch worldwide on July 30, with Bellring Games confirming in an official announcement that the dark fantasy extraction action game will also appear at Steam Next Fest on June 15, when an open test goes live on both Steam and the official website. Built as a third-person PvPvE game, it combines melee action combat, treasure-hunting exploration, and strategic extraction. It is also BELLRING GAMES' first title.
At a mechanical level, the pitch is straightforward. Mistfall Hunter is built around the extraction loop more than raw action execution: go in, fight, loot, and decide when to leave. It supports solo play or three-player squads, which opens it up to both hardcore solo players and smaller coordinated groups. For players who prefer systems-driven, sandbox-style play, the key question is less "can you win a fight" and more "how do you enter, what do you take, and when do you extract."

The map lineup is where that structure starts to look more distinct. Brandr Fortress leans toward tighter confrontation, with a colder tone and faster-paced engagements for players who want quick contact and quick outcomes. Sacred Woodlands, by contrast, which will open to all players during Steam Next Fest, goes the other way. It is an open map with no golden mist closing circle, built around open exploration and objective-driven treasure runs. With both standard extraction points and special extraction points, that dual extraction setup should make route planning feel more deliberate, rather than just another system-driven push forward.

Another thing to watch is that some maps use the golden mist shrinking-circle mechanic, while also letting players choose their own timing for bell extraction. That creates a clear trade-off between greed and caution: stay longer and search for more, or leave early and secure what you have. Every extra second changes the risk calculation. Extraction games tend to suffer when every run starts to feel the same, and at least from what has been shown so far, Mistfall Hunter is already trying to vary both its map rules and extraction options.
The open test will also add a new class, Withering Knight. It is positioned around tempo control and group crowd control, uses a two-handed greatsword, and features mechanics or abilities including Withering Mark, Parry, and Thorn Guidance. With its arrival, the current roster will expand to 6 classes: Mercenary, Sorcerer, Blackarrow, Shadowstrix, Seer, and Withering Knight. If the class feels right, it could become a strong front-line anchor in three-player teams, since control-oriented classes in a PvPvE environment often decide whether an encounter ends in kills or a forced retreat.

On the setting side, the game uses Unreal Engine 5 to build its dark fantasy world. Players take the role of a Goldhunter rescued by the mysterious girl and priestess Rue, with the central mission of gathering Glimmergold and repairing the world. That at least gives repeated treasure runs some narrative motivation instead of turning them into pure resource farming. Earlier small-scale tests and the comment sections under community preview posts reportedly brought Sacred Woodlands plenty of positive feedback, which also suggests there is real demand for slower, exploration-led extraction maps rather than only high-pressure sprint formats.

Two groups, in particular, should keep an eye on the test and launch. First, players who like melee action but want something beyond straightforward dungeon grinding should use the June 15 open test to judge whether the combat feel and extraction decisions really work. Second, players who prefer route planning, resource evaluation, and team role division may find a map like Sacred Woodlands more appealing than a traditional shrinking-circle layout. On the other hand, if all you want is the purest and most stable PvE loot grind, Mistfall Hunter's PvPvE structure will still come with the pressure of ambushes and forced reroutes, so it is worth setting expectations before jumping in.
