Uncharted OceanFetching priceIs Uncharted Really Coming Back? Another Naughty Dog Game Leak Fuels Speculation
VGC editor Jordan Middler said on a recent podcast that a new Uncharted is already in development, and that Naughty Dog may be getting close to an official reveal. Similar claims have previously come from leaker DanielRPK and Insider Gaming founder and editor-in-chief Tom Henderson, but the key point remains unchanged: none of this has been officially confirmed.
For a series that has been dormant for so long, even a cautious signal like this stands out. Naughty Dog stepped away from Uncharted after the franchise’s peak, and there has not been a new mainline sequel for a long time. For players who came to the series for its breezy, cinematic pacing rather than deep systems, this is the kind of rumor that lands fast.

Middler’s wording is still the clearest part of this story. He said he knows a new Uncharted is in development, and that it will come "sooner or later." It is not a formal announcement, but it is more direct than the hedged language these rumors usually come wrapped in.
Reporting from last year points in the same direction. DanielRPK claimed that Naughty Dog was developing a second game alongside Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, and that it was not The Last of Us Part 3. If that information is accurate, it naturally pushes speculation back toward Uncharted.

One other detail is worth noting. According to DanielRPK, the unannounced project has been secretly led for years by Shaun Escayg, the director of Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. That does not prove anything on its own, but it does give the rumor a more believable shape.
Tom Henderson ties into the same picture as well. He previously said that Naughty Dog had indeed mapped out Uncharted 5 before the pandemic, and he believes the studio may now be actively working on it. Taken together, these reports read less like one stray guess and more like several sources pointing in the same direction.
Still, caution matters here. Nearly all of the current information comes from insiders, not from Naughty Dog itself, not from an official showcase, and not from a trailer. The sensible approach is to treat this as a credible rumor, not something locked in.
If a new Uncharted does materialize, the appeal is not necessarily a bigger map or more layered systems. For many players, the series works because it feels effortless: smooth story progression, striking setpieces, and mechanics that do not get in the way. If you do not want to wrestle with overly heavy systems, this is worth watching, just not believing in too hard yet.
