According to GameSky, citing on-site reporting, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang made the T1 base near Hongdae in Seoul his first public stop after arriving in South Korea on June 5. There, he met League of Legends icon Faker, interacted with T1 players and fans, and handed Faker a signed special-edition RTX 5090. As a first public stop, the choice looked deliberate: not a closed-door AI meeting or a standard product appearance, but an esports visit that linked Nvidia's top GPU line with one of gaming's biggest stars.
That was clearest in one exchange during the event. Huang asked Faker what graphics card he was using, and Faker replied that he uses a GeForce RTX 4070. Huang then joked that it was already an "antique." It's exactly the kind of throwaway joke that travels fast: simple, playful, and easy to get even if you don't follow PC hardware closely.

The smarter play wasn't just the gift, but how Nvidia sold its rarity. On site, the signed RTX 5090 was introduced as a special version that is "the only one in the world." Huang signed it, Faker gave him a personally signed T1 jersey in return, and the two then signed the 5090 together. It neatly fused two kinds of appeal: high-end hardware as a collectible, and esports fandom as identity. The last beat tied it together. The co-signed card was later given away to one lucky fan through an on-site drawing, making the appearance feel less like a routine stop and more like a carefully planned promotion.

The South Korea focus makes sense. The country remains one of the most mature esports markets in the world, with an ecosystem that connects PC hardware, PC bang culture, pro leagues, and streamer reach. In that environment, any new GPU generation gets an outsized boost if players leave thinking pros are already around the newest cards. The report also says Huang will go on to visit several leading South Korean tech companies to discuss deeper cooperation around AI hardware and the esports industry. That makes the T1 visit look less like the main event and more like the public opener before deeper industry talks.

The commercial logic is straightforward. A product at the RTX 5090 tier does not sell on value alone. Prestige, enthusiast status, and the simple appeal of owning the flagship all matter. Faker saying he still uses an RTX 4070 also creates a useful point of reference for ordinary players: if your focus is a competitive game like League of Legends, a 4070 is hardly outdated, and there is no reason to let event hype push you into a blind upgrade. But if you also care about very high refresh rates, streaming, AI workloads, or heavier AAA games, the 5090 is clearly in a very different price class.
On the community side, the mood was loose and friendly. Huang posed for photos with the full T1 roster, copied the team's signature celebration gesture, chatted with fans waiting on site, signed autographs, and joked that some players' older GPU setups were already behind the times. For fans, it's good spectacle. For the industry, it's a polished example of how these partnerships are built: start with a top esports name, use rare hardware as the hook, and then move into AI and business talks. The caveat is obvious enough. If the follow-up amounts to little more than photo ops, the whole thing can tip too far into marketing. But based on this first public stop, Nvidia did not treat South Korea casually. It treated it as one of the overseas markets it intends to cultivate most seriously, and as a natural fit given the country's role as a global birthplace of esports.
