Pre-orders for the *The Existence of Consciousness* figure are now open! Will it still be worth the wait until 2027?
When a figure puts its emphasis on “character relationships” rather than a solo standing pose, deciding whether to buy it is like playing out an endgame: you first have to judge whether it’s selling the sculpt, the emotion, or a memorable moment from the work itself. This time, Capcom has teamed up with Creators Model to release a 1/7 scale figure from Pragmata, centered on the moment when the protagonist “Hugh” deploys his shield to protect Diana. Because of that, this isn’t the kind of display piece that wins purely on face and physique, but a collectible that very clearly prioritizes narrative posing.

From a design standpoint, the most ingenious aspect of this figure is how well it captures the distinctiveness of “Hugh’s” heavy protective gear and shield action pose. The figure measures 28 cm tall, 20 cm wide, and 29 cm deep, so it’s not small; once displayed, it feels more like a slice of a scene than an ordinary character standee. For players who love the atmospheric worldbuilding of Pragmata, this kind of “defensive stance” expression is more memorable than simply giving him a handsome standing pose, and it also better fits the oppressive feel of a sci-fi action title.

The issue, however, is that this game of chess does not come without a cost. The original information already makes it clear that Diana is not the core focus of this figure, and her facial sculpt looks somewhat stiff, with room for improvement in the level of detail. In other words, if you’re ordering it for the “two-character interaction,” the actual visual impression may end up feeling uneven in terms of the finish between the main and supporting characters. But if you’re already a devoted fan of “Hugh,” then the main viewing angle still holds up, and that trade-off may be acceptable. Otherwise, the supporting character portion can easily feel a bit wasted.

As for pricing, after a 22% discount this figure is listed at 28,314 yen, which is about 1213 RMB. For a 1/7 scale product with scene-based character interaction and equipment detailing, that number is not outrageous, but it is definitely not in impulse-buy territory either—especially considering that pre-orders are already open, while shipping is not scheduled until January 31, 2027. The gap between pre-order and delivery is stretched very long, like committing resources two turns in advance in a strategic game. It suits people who genuinely love the work and its characters, but not trend-chasing buyers acting on a temporary rush of enthusiasm.

In terms of strategic depth, my buying advice is straightforward: if your emotional anchor to Pragmata is precisely the scene of “Hugh protecting Diana,” then this figure has collectible value, because what it chooses is not a generic pose, but a key move in the relationship between the characters. But if you care more about the facial accuracy of every character, or are especially sensitive to long waiting periods, then I would recommend waiting to see later official images and feedback from the player community. The figure market has become increasingly fond of “contextual expression” over the past two years, and that is a good thing, because compared with hollow cool-looking standing poses, it feels more like a play with an actual theme. But once the supporting character’s finish drags behind, the overall impression is inevitably diluted as well. For this particular product, Hugh’s core design is the highlight, while Diana’s presentation will determine whether it can truly go from “pretty good” to “worth waiting two years for.”
