Capcom's Resident Evil 9 PC launch hit by texture bug turning characters pitch black
Capcom's sci-fi title Pragmata shipped with a texture bug on PC that turns protagonist Diana's skin pitch black. Multiple players reported the issue shortly after launch, and it's confirmed as a texture loading failure rather than intentional design.

The bug already surfaced during the demo phase. That gave Capcom enough runway between demo and retail to patch it, but the issue made it to release anyway. Two likely causes: either the fix got deprioritized in sprint planning, or QA couldn't reliably reproduce the conditions. Player reports show restarting the game or reloading a save clears it up, which points to runtime resource management rather than corrupted asset files.

The bug isn't game-breaking since the workaround is simple. But PC optimization remains a recurring weak spot for Capcom. The RE Engine runs clean on consoles, yet PC ports consistently surface odd compatibility quirks. Wait for the day-one patch before buying, or hold off until the Steam winter sale when these rough edges are usually smoothed out. Capcom's current playbook prioritizes console stability first, then iterates on PC post-launch—Steam players have come to expect it.
