In offertaBatman™: Arkham VRSilver City’s demo is taking off, but are 4 million pre-registrations a lock?
According to Gamersky, a gameplay clip of Silver City is making the rounds on Twitter/X outside China, and it is not selling itself on combat or map size. The footage shows the open-world action RPG's character customization screen, with detailed models, distinct character looks, and immediately recognizable costume design. The clip also lands with some context: this Unreal Engine 5 Chinese-developed title had already passed 4 million reservations across all platforms during its first CBT.
That number is a useful signal, not a verdict. The appeal is obvious: the game is clearly leaning on character art, fashion, and presentation. The models do look sharp, and the characters are not assembly-line faces distinguished only by hair color. Still, anyone who lived through older console-era marketing knows the risk. A polished reveal can still be hiding a rough playable build.

Silver City has a clear premise. It is an open-world action RPG built in Unreal Engine 5, set in the Victorian-style fictional city of Sylvania. The city prospers because of a revolutionary resource called Silver Liquid, while werewolves, gangs, and other factions operate in its shadows. That setup already has more identity than a generic continent built around another chosen hero.

The bigger question is whether the detective systems work once players have them in hand. Players take the role of a detective investigating strange incidents and gradually uncovering the truth behind the city. Gaze Mode can expose monsters disguised as humans, while the Memory Palace lets the player reconstruct crime scenes in their mind. It sounds like a blend of the detective vision in Batman: Arkham and the clue organization of older mystery games, folded into an open world. That is easy to describe in marketing copy. Turning it into satisfying systems is harder.

The combat also needs more than sharp trailers and a tough-sounding tag. Official information points to stylish parries and combo systems, which the original description frames as notably hardcore. But "hardcore" has become a cheap word. Higher damage gets called hardcore. A shorter dodge window gets called hardcore. Even a bad lock-on system sometimes gets sold that way. A convincing action system depends on hit detection, enemy design, and camera behavior, not just a character throwing bright effects across the screen.

The 4 million reservations show that interest is real, but they do not prove the finished game is stable. Chinese open-world games have not lacked ambition in recent years; the harder part is still holding together in the final ten hours. My advice is simple: if the art direction and setting appeal to you, keep watching, but keep your expectations in check. Wait for the next CBT to show more combat, quests, and city exploration before deciding how closely to follow it. That is more useful than treating a Twitter/X trend as proof of a finished game.

The creator looks polished, but the CBT needs to prove the detective work and action combat have enough depth to carry that 4 million reservation momentum.
Agreed, depth is the price check here; 4 million reservations mean little to me until the CBT shows UE5 exploration and combat loops worth returning to.
