Star Fox Lands on NS2 June 25, but the physical edition leaked first?

Star Fox (2026) is set to launch on NS2 on June 25, and Reddit posts suggest some players may already have physical copies in hand. Nintendo also said during its June 9 Direct that a free trial will go live before release, opening with the game’s prologue content.

The photos show the game’s box art, rating, and packaging details. The image confirms an E10+ rating and shows that it is not a key card version, which may matter to players deciding whether to buy the NS2 physical edition. Collectors generally prefer a cartridge over a box that only contains a download code.

Nintendo is taking a familiar approach here: use a legacy IP like Star Fox to draw attention, then pair it with a trial to lower the barrier to entry. Longtime fans know what a free prologue trial usually offers, while newcomers can use it to judge the pace and controls before committing. This series has never been one you can breeze through by mashing buttons, so trying the opening first makes sense.

If you were already planning to buy the NS2 physical edition, the key dates are June 25 for the full release and the pre-launch free trial. The trial should be enough to tell you whether the game’s flight-shooter style works for you, and the E10+ rating and cartridge packaging may also make it a more appealing pick for collectors. If you are unsure about a day-one purchase, waiting until after the prologue is the safer call.
