“Tired of Stardew's daytime farming? Here you're a vampire who left Dracula, working only at night and turning to bats at sunrise. It doesn't rebuild the loop, it just moves the whole thing into the dark, and that alone hooks you, the price being a slow open.”

編集部の総評

The vampire gimmick actually changes the farming rhythm

Moonlight Peaks works because it doesn’t just slap fangs on a cozy farm sim and call it a day. The whole thing is built around being a vampire. You farm at night. When dawn hits, you’re forced into bat form and sent back to your coffin. Crops grow around the moon’s phases. Even the usual cozy checklist — planting, brewing, gifting, romancing, unlocking new areas — gets filtered through that one idea.

That matters a lot in 2026, because cozy farming games are packed shoulder to shoulder now. If you’re going to walk into the same room as Stardew Valley, you need a real reason to exist. Moonlight Peaks has one. Stardew is still the daytime comfort-food giant, no question. But it doesn’t have that nighttime pressure. It doesn’t make you think, “Can I squeeze in one more task before sunrise?” And it definitely doesn’t thread one supernatural theme through farming, magic, romance, and progression this consistently.

The extra wrinkle is the Stamina-and-Mana setup. You’re not just burning one energy bar and heading home. You’re deciding whether this night is for planting, mining, spell practice, potion work, or pushing the story forward. That gives the game a little more bite than the genre usually has. Not hardcore. Not punishing. But enough to make the loop feel less automatic. And the numbers line up with that reaction. On Steam, it’s sitting at 87% positive from 398 reviews, which lands it in Very Positive territory. OpenCritic has it at 75.5 with a 55.6% recommendation rate across 18 critic reviews, in the Strong bracket. That feels about right to me. This isn’t some flawless cozy monster. It’s a smart, charming one with a couple of very real rough edges.

Buy this if Stardew feels too familiar, skip it if you need instant payoff

Here’s who Moonlight Peaks is for: people who still like the cozy farm loop, but are tired of doing it in the same sunny village with the same emotional temperature. If you want Stardew-adjacent comfort with a gothic, supernatural skin — werewolves, witches, mermaids, vampire chores, moonlit crops — this is exactly the pitch. And if you’re the kind of player who loves when a game commits to its bit mechanically, not just visually, this one’s going to land.

The writing also helps. Critics have called out the work done across all seven supernatural families, and that’s important because this type of game lives or dies on whether you care about the town. The spooky wrapper is cute, but the tone underneath is still warm. You’re not playing this for horror. You’re playing it because you want a soft life sim where your neighbors just happen to be monsters, spellcasters, and magical weirdos.

But if you need fast rewards every five minutes, be careful. The opening is slow. Spells, areas, and potions are locked down for the first few hours, and the economy is tight early on. The dual Stamina and Mana caps are also stingy at the start, so some nights feel like they end right when you’re finally getting into a groove. I get why that bugs people. It’s a deliberate pressure system, but it can still feel like the game is holding you back.

And once you peel away the vampire flavor, some of the old genre bones are still very familiar. You plant. You mine. You gift. You build relationships. You unlock more stuff. Moonlight Peaks does enough to justify itself, but it doesn’t suddenly make every cozy farm sim before it obsolete. That’s why a 7.6 out of 10 feels honest. Good idea, strong identity, warm cast, but not deep enough or brisk enough for everyone.

Switch 2 is the cozy pick, PC is the practical one

Moonlight Peaks screenshot

If you’re choosing a version, I’d lean Switch 2 for the pure vibe. This is a slow-burn, handheld, bedtime-session kind of game. The Switch 2 build has been scoring around 80 to 81 on Metacritic, and the big thing is that it runs smoothly. For a game about doing a few nighttime chores, brewing a potion, talking to a witch, then crawling back into a coffin before dawn, handheld play just fits.

PC still has the practical advantages, though. If you’re playing on Steam, you’ve got the Steam Deck angle, plus trading cards and cloud saves. And since the Steam audience is already giving it that 87% Very Positive rating, it’s clearly working there too. If you bounce between desktop and handheld, PC is the safer long-term library choice. If you want the cleanest couch-and-bed version, Switch 2 makes the strongest case.

The only presentation issue that might wear on you is the look over long sessions. The purple-tinted spring and summer nights are stylish at first, but they can get a bit samey. It’s a pretty game, not an endlessly varied one. And the audio? Fine. Competent. It does the job. But nobody’s going to be humming this soundtrack for weeks.

So my overall read is simple: Moonlight Peaks earns its place in a crowded genre because it has one good idea and actually follows through on it. It’s not for players chasing speed, endless systems, or constant dopamine hits. It’s for cozy farming veterans who want a familiar loop with a stronger theme and a darker little twist. If that’s you, this is easy to recommend — just go in knowing the first few hours ask for patience.
