"Red Desert" False Advertising? Players Complain About Too Many Mount Restrictions

After 200 hours and clearing all side quests, I found the mount system utterly disappointing. The official trailer showcased nearly 29 rideable creatures, including bears, wolves, and birds of prey. Like the Crystal Theme variations in the Final Fantasy series, expectations were beautiful, but reality was brutally cruel.

Only horses can be summoned at any time; other creatures involve tedious taming processes with short-lived effects. Riding a bear requires wearing it down until exhausted; once you dismount, the taming effect vanishes completely. Notably, the dragon requires players to progress to Chapter 11 of the main story to unlock. Taking about 60 hours, this is truly the hidden element that tests player patience. Unfortunately, the dragon can only be used for 15 minutes, followed by a 50-minute cooldown.

A rant post on Reddit received 5,600 upvotes, with the community expressing disappointment. Players accused Pearl Abyss of deliberately misleading them, questioning the necessity for this in a single-player open world.

Imposing such harsh restrictions on flying mounts feels just like a broken game mechanic. For completionists, this game requires careful consideration before purchasing.
