Forza Horizon 5 hits 56 million players as sequel targets Japan launch next year
Forza Horizon 5 has reached 56 million unique players—51 million on Xbox and PC, 5 million on PlayStation. Xbox Game Studios and Playground Games confirmed the numbers.

Few racing games fit a weekend schedule. Horizon 5 does. No tuning required, just pick a car and go. One lap around the Mexico map fills an afternoon. 56 million players chose it because it respects their time.

The 5 million PlayStation users represent a small slice, but for Microsoft it validates the cross-platform bet. In open-world arcade racing, the Horizon series has no real competition—GT7 skews sim-heavy, Need for Speed hasn't shipped a new entry in years.

Forza Horizon 6 heads to Japan in May 2026. Smart choice. Mountain passes, urban expressways, rural backroads—more scene variety than Mexico, better suited for short sessions. If it launches day one on Game Pass, the value proposition remains unbeatable. Cheaper than buying a physical racing game.

The issue now: Horizon 5 still has content to clear, and 6 is already coming. For weekend players, the cadence works. The game won't collect dust, but it won't demand daily grinding either.
