Halo: Campaign EvolvedFetching price~ ¥7,900GTA 6 Ultimate Edition Preorders Top Nine Regions, Sparking Debate
According to Tweak Town, the PlayStation Store preorder charts suggest players are increasingly choosing more expensive editions of upcoming games. The strongest data point is GTA6: its $100 Ultimate Edition is ranked No. 1 for preorders in nine regions, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Japan, and Hong Kong. Tweak Town reads that as a possible sign that players' tolerance for higher software prices is entering a new stage.

That does not mean players have suddenly stopped caring about money. It means the biggest releases are pushing that calculation into the preorder window. In the case of GTA6, the pitch is clear: if the game looks big enough, durable enough, and central enough to their next few years of play, some players will treat the premium edition less like a cosmetic upsell and more like part of the game they already expect to spend serious time with.
The PS Store numbers make that shift hard to ignore. GTA6's $100 Ultimate Edition leads preorders across those nine regions, while the Hong Kong listing sits at HK$708. That is well beyond a small impulse upgrade. It is a major price step, and the chart position suggests large franchises can turn anticipation into higher-priced preorders before launch.

The same pattern is not limited to GTA6. Halo: Campaign Evolved is also seeing its Premium Edition outperform the cheaper standard edition in preorders. Tweak Town's analysis points to several reasons: long pent-up player demand, the novelty of the series arriving on PlayStation for the first time, and 5 days of early access.
That last point matters more than it may seem. Early access is not just a calendar advantage. For players who care about launch-week discussion, streaming, social feeds, and being part of the first wave, 5 days can put them inside the conversation before the standard edition crowd arrives.
Other upcoming releases show similar behavior. Marvel's Wolverine Digital Deluxe Edition and Call of Duty 23: Modern Warfare 4 Vault Edition are also examples where higher-priced versions are leading cheaper alternatives. Tweak Town notes that rankings will keep changing over time, but the broader trend has remained relatively stable.
That is the important part. Premium editions are no longer only a niche add-on for the most committed fans. In the preorder phase for major releases, they are becoming one of the main paths through the preorder funnel. When the preorder bonuses look strong enough, it becomes easier for players to accept the new normal of rising software prices.
My buying advice is still cautious. If the higher price is mainly for early access or a few digital items, it only makes sense if you are deeply invested in launch-window discussion. If the game world itself is substantial, and the extra content meaningfully extends the space you want to explore, the premium edition has a clearer case. If the reward is just a few more icons in a menu, it risks feeling like an expensive upsell with little behind it. A new pricing normal may be forming, but the thing players should reward is still the same: a world worth exploring.

Seeing it lead PS Store preorders across places like the US, Japan, and Germany does suggest price tolerance is shifting, though GTA6 may be too huge to prove it for everyone else.
I agree GTA6 is a warped measuring stick; I skipped plenty of deluxe versions before, so even Halo deluxe interest makes the wider trend feel harder to dismiss.
Nine regions putting the $100 edition at No. 1 is wild, but I still think the bonuses will decide whether that becomes normal or just GTA being GTA.
