Elden Ring's public test adds DLSS 4.5 with Unreal Engine 5.6 path tracing
Hotta Studio is betting heavily on the tech stack this time. Ananta launches into open beta on April 23, 2026, running on Unreal Engine 5.6 with DLSS 4.5 and full path tracing—a maxed-out configuration for an open-world RPG. Hardware-wise, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 series GPU cards get the full multi-frame generation treatment, and the global beta on April 29 will unlock 6x frame generation. That could theoretically push native 60fps straight into the 360fps range, assuming your monitor can keep up.

The most noteworthy technical aspect is how path tracing is implemented. Full global ray tracing in open-world games has always been tricky, and Hetero City's urban environment is packed with glass facades, metallic reflective surfaces, and complex light sources—any shortcut in the ray tracing will show. The official claim is "indistinguishable from reality," which sounds ambitious, but it signals the team put serious work into the lighting model. DLSS 4.5's super resolution upgrades the AI model specifically to tackle ghosting artifacts, which should help during high-speed vehicle sequences.
Gameplay design follows a multi-system fusion approach—open-world exploration, action combat, vehicle driving, and simulation management all crammed in. Players take on the role of an anomaly hunter at the antique shop "Eibon," a setup that at least provides clear motivation for exploration. Whether this kitchen-sink design achieves depth depends on how tightly these systems interlock, rather than feeling like separate modules bolted together.
Platform coverage is comprehensive: PC, Android, iOS, Mac, HarmonyOS, and PlayStation 5 all launch simultaneously on April 23, 2026. That's a stress test for cross-platform multiplayer. How path tracing adapts to mobile hardware and whether the PS5 version holds a stable 60fps are questions the beta needs to answer. Based on the tech demos, hardware requirements aren't light—RTX 4070 or better is the realistic baseline for full visual fidelity.
