Koei Tecmo dropped a major update for Nioh 3 today, headlined by the new Difficulty Stone system. Players can exchange accessories for these stones to ramp up enemy strength while boosting equipment drop rates—a clear trade designed for the hardcore crowd chasing god-roll gear.

The War Scroll mode now includes 5 additional missions for endgame grinders. More notably, 6 winning designs from the My Takechiyomaru character design contest are now live as appearance templates, proving the studio knows how to leverage community creativity. Photo mode fans get a quality-of-life upgrade too: you can now trigger it directly while investigating Kodama or soaking in hot springs, eliminating the previous menu juggling.

Balance tweaks hit Blood Blade Asura and Rejuvenation Talisman mechanics, while Honda Tadakatsu's Clan Blessing received a damage buff. The patch also squashes longstanding bugs—weapon skill glitches, multiplayer freezes, and equipment stat display errors all got addressed. Koei Tecmo is clearly acting on player feedback, pairing fresh content with foundational fixes.

Compared to other soulslike titles, Nioh 3's update cadence stands out. The Difficulty Stone system raises the skill ceiling while the drop rate compensation keeps loot farming rewarding. If you shelved the game after credits rolled, this update makes a strong case for jumping back in.
