Resident Evil 9 may get two DLCs, possibly restoring the missing second chapter

Resident Evil 9: Requiem launched February 27 on PC, PS5, Switch 2, and Xbox Series X|S. Leaks now claim Capcom is planning two DLC packs—one pairing Leon with Alyssa, another featuring Ada and Chris. The source remains unverified.

The leak gains credibility from a structural oddity: the game's chapter numbering jumps from Chapter 1 straight to Chapter 3. Director Koshi Nakanishi confirmed the existence of a "missing Chapter 2" and revealed that Leon-related content originally set around 2020 was cut. This kind of narrative gap is unusual for a mainline entry and typically signals content held back or split off.

Capcom established a working DLC model with RE7 and RE8: Village. If the leak holds, two packs would fill the timeline gap and give Leon—a franchise pillar—more screen time than the base game offers. The main story centers on Leon and Grace as protagonists with Victor as the final boss, a setup that won't satisfy Leon fans looking for his signature moments.

Value depends on pricing and scope. RE8's Shadows of Rose DLC delivered 4-6 hours for $20 and landed well with players. If RE9's two packs match that standard, they're reasonable for existing owners. But if they're just restoring the cut Chapter 2 content, that's a different story—selling a complete narrative in pieces doesn't fly in 2026.

Wait for official word from Capcom before committing. Leaks are leaks; what matters is actual content and pricing when it ships.
