"*Sharo Cycle* trailer blows the roof off! Can this PS5 exclusive succeed *Returnal* as its heir?"

Explosive! This is truly a great moment for sci-fi action fans! On April 9, Sony Interactive Entertainment unveiled the latest preview trailer for Saros, and after watching it, my first reaction could be summed up in one sentence: Housemarque is about to turn the intensity all the way up again. Anyone familiar with this team knows they made Returnal, Nex Machina, and Resogun. Their games have never been about taking it slow—whether it’s pacing, pressure, or combat feel, they’re the kind that throw you straight into the fight from the very start.

Now for the key part: this trailer isn’t just a few flashy shots meant to fool people—it directly shows a large amount of real gameplay combat. The bullet-hell shooting is still their signature flavor, but Saros clearly puts more emphasis on close-range responses as well, with defense, dodging, and precise parries all needing to work together. If you can really get into the flow, the combat is going to look absolutely explosive. For players who enjoy high-pressure, high-feedback action experiences, this kind of system design clearly isn’t about “standing still and trading shots”—it’s about keeping your nerves taut the entire time.

There’s also a lot of flavor on the story side. The protagonist is Arjuna Devraj, an Enforcer from the Soltari Corporation, who travels to the planet Carcosa to investigate ancient secrets hidden within the ruins under the shadow of a catastrophic eclipse. Paired with the ruins, alien landscapes, and oppressive skies shown in the trailer, the atmosphere is completely maxed out. It feels like the kind of place where, the moment you land, you know something is seriously wrong—and the deeper you dig, the more dangerous it gets. Between battles, players can return to a central hub to upgrade equipment and interact with NPCs affected by the eclipse, whose conditions continue to deteriorate. That means it won’t be just nonstop fighting—it’ll also keep pushing the worldbuilding and narrative forward.

Next up is one of this game’s most important cards—the “Second Chance” system. Simply put, when your character goes down, it’s not the end of everything. You can return to the battlefield and use permanently retained resources to strengthen your character, continuing to unlock more powerful weapons and exosuit components. It’s a smart design: it preserves the thrill of cyclical challenge while reducing frustration. For players who were scared off by the intense pace of Returnal, the barrier to entry is clearly much friendlier this time.

Another point that really caught my attention is that Carcosa’s stages use dynamic generation. In other words, every time you enter this planet, the environmental layout, routes, and even enemy behavior logic will change. The benefits are obvious: repeated runs won’t get stale so easily, and streamers love this kind of content, because the same level can create fresh moments every time—whether it’s a spectacular wipe or a comeback, the stream atmosphere definitely won’t be lacking.

But! What’s most reassuring isn’t even the trailer itself, but the fact that the official side has already confirmed that Saros has “Gone Gold.” That carries real weight—it basically means development is officially complete, and the risk of delay has been pushed very low. The release date is also locked in: it launches on PS5 on April 30, 2026. It’s also a PS5 exclusive, with dedicated enhancements for PS5 Pro, so console players can go ahead and set aside time for it now.

If you ask me whether it’s worth keeping an eye on, my advice is very clear: if you like the kind of high-speed, high-pressure gameplay in Returnal that emphasizes movement and reflexes, put this one high on your watchlist immediately. And if you used to feel Housemarque’s games were too punishing, this time it’s also worth another look, because the “Second Chance” system is clearly meant to leave the door open for more players. Now it all comes down to whether the final version can truly twist narrative, progression, and randomness into one tight rope. If it can, this game could very well be one of the strongest titles in PS5’s 2026 exclusive lineup.
