Black Myth pop-up lets you buy on entry, but is this offline event worth the trip
Game Science co-founder and art director Yang Qi posted a new video on Weibo confirming an official Black Myth brand pop-up in Beijing, running May 1 to May 25 at Weibo IN Cross-Dimensional Gravity Field 1F 1030, with exhibits and on-site merch sales.
The biggest draw is simple: this is buy now, take now offline stock, not another online preorder with a long wait. For an IP like Black Myth, where visual identity is a major part of the appeal, getting the physical item in hand delivers far more emotional payoff than a purchase confirmation screen. It feels like taking the kind of material-quality obsession seen in Hollow Knight collector circles and placing it in a tangible space.

More importantly, the official positioning is an immersive offline experience, not just a sales booth. The venue will feature a 1:1 Destined One statue and other display pieces that players can inspect up close. That kind of in-person viewing usually builds a stronger sense of world authenticity than posters or videos. If a typical pop-up is mostly check-in photos, this style of installation is closer to walking through extracted level art from a setting compendium.

The merch lineup is also broad: nearly 100 official derivative items across clothing, sculptures, figures, and accessories, covering both entry spending and serious collecting tiers. For players on tighter budgets, accessories and smaller figures are the smarter first look because they’re easier to use daily and easier on cost. For heavy collectors, sculptures and apparel collaborations are the obvious targets, but setting a hard budget cap beforehand is still the safest way to avoid overspending in the moment.
The downside is clear: this event is Beijing-only, so out-of-town players still face travel time and cost. Popular items may also trigger on-site rush buying, and queueing could be rough—an old issue with offline pop-ups. A later multi-city tour, or a simultaneous release of part of the limited stock online, would be more player-friendly than a single-location drop.

One final detail is getting a lot of community attention: Yang Qi wrote, “Just got off work and had a late-night snack,” and the post time was 2:20 a.m. That suggests he was working until around 2:00 a.m., reflecting the team’s high-intensity push before this milestone. If you’re in Beijing during the May Day period and care about Black Myth’s art direction and official merch, this offline event is worth putting on your schedule.
