There's a type of person I've always felt for — talented enough, with the vision to match, yet always waiting for someone to say "yes." The story of Bluepoint is probably exactly that.
According to Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier, citing sources, Bluepoint Games had proposed a Bloodborne remake to Sony before the studio's closure, only to be turned down. The reason, reportedly, was that FromSoftware "didn't want it to happen" — most likely Sony respecting Hidetaka Miyazaki's wishes, as former SIE president Shuhei Yoshida had previously revealed that Miyazaki doesn't want other teams touching his work.

After Bloodborne fell through, Bluepoint didn't give up. They pitched other directions as well: an upgraded version of Shadow of the Colossus Remake, a Ghost of Tsushima spin-off, and several other proposals. They also attempted to connect with other PlayStation studios for collaboration, but those studios were reportedly "under significant financial pressure in recent years" and unable to allocate resources to support such efforts. Ultimately, Sony concluded that Bluepoint lacked the capability to independently develop original titles, the partnership went nowhere, and closure became the inevitable ending.

The player community's reaction to the news has been quite mixed. Some feel Bluepoint's proposals were too conservative — the idea of "remaking a game that's already been remade" immediately put many people off. One player put it bluntly: "inFAMOUS and Killzone are right there — why go back to Shadow of the Colossus again? If Sony actually put out another remake of it, what would players think? They'd never shake the label of 'only knows how to remake things.'"
Others understood Bluepoint's position but lamented their strategy: "I really enjoyed their remakes, but after being acquired, the best pitch they could come up with was a 'remake of a remake' — that really didn't do them any favors." "Honestly, even as a regular player like me, I wouldn't greenlight a proposal like that."
