Call of Duty® 2Call of Duty 23 Unveils Full Roster Posters, New Recruit Parka Revealed
On June 2, Activision unveiled a new character poster for Infinity Ward's Call of Duty 23: Modern Warfare 4, confirming the game will launch October 23, 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Switch 2—and notably dropping support for PS4 and Xbox One entirely.
The poster maintains the series' signature hardcore military aesthetic: a dark palette and meticulously detailed facial work. Park, the new core recruit, stands out with a buzz cut, fierce gaze, and Korean-style tactical gear. Captain Price keeps his classic look—white beard, razor-sharp eyes—embodying the seasoned soldier's calm composure.
The dual-narrative structure that defined the Modern Warfare saga returns. New players step into Park's boots as a fresh recruit, while veterans continue alongside Captain Price. The poster composition places Park in the foreground with Price slightly behind, suggesting a symbolic passing of the torch between generations.
This marks the first time since 2019's Modern Warfare reboot that the series abandons last-gen hardware entirely. The tradeoff is clear: developers can fully exploit next-gen power for graphics and physics, but players clinging to older consoles will need to upgrade. For Switch 2 owners, the port is being handled in-house by Infinity Ward rather than outsourced—a detail that should ease some concerns about quality.
The four confirmed locations—Korea, New York, Paris, and Mumbai—span East Asia, North America, and South Asia, promising globally scaled operations. Korea and Mumbai seem primed for close-quarters and street fighting, while New York and Paris likely offer vertical sniper scenarios in urban skylines.
My recommendation: if you're still on last-gen hardware, consider upgrading to PS5 or Xbox Series X|S before launch. Infinity Ward is clearly pushing next-gen capabilities hard. For Switch 2 players prioritizing portability, wait for full reviews—this franchise's handheld track record has been inconsistent, and in-house development alone doesn't guarantee a turnaround.
