CD Projekt, Scopely confirm new mobile game delayed beyond 2026

The mobile game collaboration between CD Projekt Red and Scopely will not launch in 2026, with joint CEO Michał Nowakowski confirming the project remains active but requires additional refinement to meet quality standards.

Scopely, the San Francisco-based mobile game publisher acquired by Saudi Arabia's Savvy Games Group for $4.9 billion in 2023, brings a robust portfolio to the table. The company develops and operates titles including Monopoly GO!, Stumble Guys, Star Trek: Fleet Command, and Marvel Strike Team. Beyond its own IPs, Scopely manages Niantic's gaming business, handling Pokémon GO, Pikmin Bloom, and Monster Hunter Now—a testament to its operational scale in the mobile space.

The partnership, announced in March 2025, represents a significant opportunity for CD Projekt to finally crack mobile. The Polish developer has struggled in this space before: Gwent ceased updates in October 2023, and Witcher: Monster Slayer was shuttered after less than two years of operation. The company clearly wants to avoid repeating those missteps this time around.

The delay itself isn't necessarily negative. Nowakowski's emphasis on "repeated polishing" suggests both partners are prioritizing quality over speed—a sensible approach given how brutal the mobile market can be. Products that launch without hitting the mark tend to disappear quickly, and for franchises with as much fan investment as Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher, a botched mobile tie-in could damage brand perception more than it helps.

From a strategy gamer's angle, this collaboration bears watching. If Scopely's mobile operational muscle can be paired with CD Projekt's narrative and RPG expertise, there's genuine potential for something that doesn't feel like a lazy cash-in. The project remains in motion, and more details should surface as development continues.
