Cyberpunk 2077Cyberpunk 2077 Community Poll Crowns Cybernetic Eyes Top Implant, Sparking Debate
Reddit's Cyberpunk 2077 subreddit, r/cyberpunkgame, has held a popular poll on civilian cyberware, launched by user Faze__Panda. The premise was simple: basic implants would cost about as much as a flagship smartphone. On that basis, Kiroshi optical cyber-eyes, focused on vision repair, took first place with over 1700 votes, well ahead of any combat upgrade.

It is a strikingly practical result. Players, it turns out, are not rushing to turn themselves into combat builds. The top three picks were all health and comfort upgrades: restoring vision, easing back pain, and replacing damaged lungs. No combat-focused modification made the top three.
Second place went to lower-back and spinal-joint cyberware, aimed mainly at office workers who have spent years sitting too much. Third place went to synthetic lungs, backed chiefly by asthma patients and people recovering from severe COVID. This reads less like a sci-fi wishlist than a collective medical record.
That price assumption changes the whole question. Once the cost barrier falls to the level of a flagship phone, the fantasy quickly moves away from combat upgrades and toward basic health needs. One participant said they were likely to go blind within ten years, making cyber-eyes less of a luxury than a last chance to keep their sight.

Voters drew a much harder line at networked brain cyberware. Most said they did not want it, citing concerns over hacking, forced ads, and the risk of cyberpsychosis. In that sense, the people voting in the poll sound far more cautious than many residents of Night City.
Cyberpunk 2077 sells its world with obvious style. But when people imagine putting that technology in their own bodies, fixing failing eyesight comes first.
