Doubao's App Store listing now shows paid subscription tiers. On May 4, the official response confirmed core features remain free long-term, while paid premium services are still in testing. Three tiers: Standard at ¥68/month or ¥688/year, Enhanced at ¥200/month or ¥2,048/year, Professional at ¥500/month or ¥5,088/year.

The pricing structure targets distinct user segments. Standard at ¥688 annually covers everyday office work—PPT generation and document processing. Enhanced jumps to ¥2,048, aimed at data analysis and video production workflows. Professional caps at ¥5,088, a price point clearly designed for enterprises and studios rather than individual users.

No paid features are live in the Doubao app yet. The company states free access will continue for daily conversations, information queries, and standard document tasks, while paid tiers will focus on complex production scenarios. The strategy is straightforward: retain mass users on free, filter paying customers who value efficiency gains.

The tiered approach tests market ceiling. Standard tier courts light office users, Enhanced targets professional creators, Professional goes after enterprise demand. The segmentation isn't aggressive, but conversion depends on whether delivered features justify the cost. AI tool subscriptions ultimately hinge on measurable productivity gains, not feature lists.
