"Pokémon: Wind/Wave" Grass-Type Starter Looks Like Duolingo Owl—Official Account Comes to Claim Kinship

Right after Pokémon Wind/Wave revealed its new starter trio, Duolingo Brazil's official account couldn't stay quiet.

The reason is simple — Leafmow, the Grass-type starter, is green, bird-shaped, and bears a striking resemblance to Duolingo's iconic green owl mascot. The official account immediately posted: "W. Representation of green birds in leadership positions is very important!"

Brazilian fans joined in on the fun: the game supports Portuguese, so they never have to learn English again.

Leafmow's design is actually pretty charming. Categorized as the "Chick Pokémon," it has the Overgrow ability, stands 0.3m tall, and weighs 3.5kg. Its eyebrows are leaves capable of photosynthesis — it's bursting with energy and always running around, yet somehow still a bit of a klutz.

That contrast is genuinely endearing.

Whether the resemblance is real or imagined is in the eye of the beholder, but Duolingo's clout-chasing this time was perfectly timed.
