For some players, that makes this an easy way to revisit the game on a handheld, but for owners of the original NS version, the lack of any upgrade or discount has quickly split community reaction.

Part of the reason players still come back to Final Fantasy X is not just the plot. It was the overall atmosphere: the light on the water, the open skies, and a soundtrack that gave key scenes lasting weight. For many players, it is the kind of game they return to rather than simply complete once.

That is why the NS2 version's quality-of-life features matter more than the label "remaster" might suggest.
