Forza Horizon 6 preload live at 146GB for a map five times the size of Tokyo
Forza Horizon 6 preload is live on Xbox and Windows Store—134.86GB on Xbox Series X, 146.4GB on PC—less than three weeks before the May 19 launch. Steam preload hasn't started yet.

146GB isn't bloat. It's Playground Games cramming the entire Tokyo metropolitan area onto your drive. The map is five times larger than Forza Horizon 5's Guanajuato, spanning downtown, suburbs, industrial ports, plus mountain roads inspired by Mount Haruna and Bandai-Azuma. The new touge night races are the real concern—navigating hairpins with only headlights cutting through darkness creates a slow-burn tension that pulls you into the unknown.

You start as a tourist this time. No instant supercar handout. You grind through qualifying races to earn a golden wristband and access to Legend Island. This breaks series tradition—you're not a parachuted racing god anymore. You prove yourself in an unfamiliar city. The bottom-up progression feels more grounded than being handed keys to a hypercar on day one.

Five times the map size raises a question: does exploration density get diluted, or does content scale up properly? Mexico was already massive, but memorable locations were sparse. Tokyo has an advantage—the urban fabric itself is dense. Shibuya Crossing, Shuto Expressway, Mount Fuji backdrops all carry inherent atmosphere. The real test isn't map size. It's whether Playground packed 146GB with enough detail and surprises to make every corner worth exploring, or if it becomes an empty numbers game.
Preload is live. Is your drive ready? May 19 will tell.
