Cerulean Onslaught Rumors Clash Again as FS’s New Project Seems to Shift

According to TechTroduce, the latest rumors around FromSoftware's unannounced project codenamed FMC are now pulling in different directions on the most basic details: its title, setting, and release window. Back in last July, industry tracker and leaker Kurakasis said FromSoftware was developing FMC alongside The Duskbloods, that the game was already at a fairly advanced stage, and that players would get their hands on it by 2026 at the latest.

That early timeline naturally got attention. When FromSoftware even hints at a new project, the community tends to start speculating immediately, and Kurakasis's claim sounded unusually specific. Then a more recent rumor pushed things further, naming the project outright as Cerulean Onslaught and claiming it would be revealed during Summer Game Fest in June before launching in August.

That same report also sketched out a striking premise: a dark fantasy action RPG where players sail across the ocean, explore different islands, and use their ship as an in-game base. It is easy to see why that version spread quickly. The concept sounds distinctive, and it also fits the kind of mysterious, high-pressure exploration many players associate with FromSoftware.

But the newest rumor, as relayed by TechTroduce, cuts across that earlier picture in several major ways. This version says the game's title includes the word "Vessel", and that its protagonist is referred to as "drowned" or "deep drowned." It also describes the setting not as a straightforward seafaring journey between islands, but as the interior of an island-sized giant shipwreck fused with islands.

That conflict is the real story here. One rumor points to Cerulean Onslaught with a fixed schedule of a June reveal and August release; the newer one says there is currently no release-date information at all. TechTroduce notes that these contradictions are hard to ignore, especially the disagreement over whether the title contains "Vessel" and the obvious mismatch in launch timing.

Its skepticism on the release window is especially easy to follow. TechTroduce argues that for a brand-new AAA IP from a studio at FromSoftware's level, a plan to announce the game and release it just two months later would be almost unheard of. On that point alone, the earlier Cerulean Onslaught rumor already looks shaky.

By contrast, TechTroduce finds the "Vessel" rumor more believable from a design perspective. The idea of exploring the remains of an island-scale vessel merged with land sounds closer to the layered, interconnected world design associated with Dark Souls and Bloodborne. That kind of compact yet intricate spatial structure feels more in line with a classic FromSoftware setup, which is probably why this version reads as the more convincing one.

Still, the key point has not changed: most of this is still rumor, and none of it has been officially confirmed by FromSoftware. The title, the protagonist's name, the core structure, and any release plans all remain unverified. If you are a longtime FromSoftware fan, Summer Game Fest in June is still an obvious date to watch. But treating any of these reports as settled fact would be getting ahead of the evidence.

In the end, the most interesting part is not whether the game is really called Cerulean Onslaught. It is that these leaks have reignited speculation over what a new FromSoftware IP could look like. Ocean exploration, an island-sized wreck, or something between the two, all of it remains hypothetical for now. Until the studio says otherwise, this is still buildup, not an announcement.
