Has GTA 6 Changed Its Visuals? Fans Are Split Over Night and Dusk Scenes
According to a comparison post by Reddit user Comfortable-Tea7031 on the GTA6 subreddit, Grand Theft Auto VI has kicked off a fresh debate over its visuals after placing the 2023 debut trailer's Vice City night skyline alongside a 2026 dusk city image newly posted on the official website. The top image in the post is the 2023 trailer night view, while the bottom image is the 2026 website update showing the city at dusk. Both are aerial city shots from the same stretch of the marketing campaign, but they point to very different visual priorities, and Rockstar still has not responded. With GTA6 still locked for worldwide release on November 19, players are already split over which image better reflects the game's final look.

On a basic visual level, the argument is easy to follow. The 2023 night scene makes the stronger first impression. Street lighting, stronger building contrast, and finer water reflections combine into a denser image, with neon lighting giving the skyline a sharper silhouette. It is exactly the kind of image a trailer uses to grab attention instantly.

The 2026 website material is clearly aiming for something else. It leans into a pink-purple sunset sky, raises the overall brightness, lowers the contrast, and softens the building lights. The result loses some of that immediate punch, but creates a softer, more realistic coastal-city mood. That helps explain the post's main reaction: some players feel the earlier night view simply has better texture and atmosphere, while the newer image looks closer to a high-definition enhanced version of GTA5.

The comments have largely settled into two camps. One side sees the 2023 trailer shot as the more convincing next-gen showcase. The other argues that comparing a night scene directly with a dusk scene is questionable from the outset, because the capture time, promotional purpose, and mood are different. Some players with industry experience lean toward that second view: this looks more like a shift in art direction and marketing emphasis than a clear engine-level downgrade.

From a player perspective, the main thing to hold back right now is any firm conclusion. Trailer footage and official website images are often tuned for different goals, and on a project the size of GTA6, Rockstar knows which shots sell spectacle and which ones sell the city's broader character. If you want a fair read on the final visual quality, the more useful benchmark will be longer gameplay footage later on. That should make the final visual standard much easier to judge.
For players watching this debate, the takeaway is simple: do not overhaul your verdict based on this round of screenshot comparisons alone. It is fine to argue about style preference now, but it is still too early to define the final graphics. Grand Theft Auto VI remains set for worldwide release on November 19, and when Rockstar puts out more gameplay material, the argument over the night shot versus the dusk shot should become easier to judge.
