Japanese outlet 4Gamer played the ChinaJoy 2026 demo of Chinese action RPG Gu Shen: Feng Lixi, a game rooted in Chinese creation mythology. Set after Nüwa creates humanity, it casts players as the first human she made and sends them against ancient mythological threats, including the formidable Xingtian. The demo includes tutorial content and a battle against the legendary warrior.

The encounter with Xingtian is unsettling for reasons that have little to do with gore or cheap jump scares. His enormous body emerging from the darkness creates a lingering sense of dread, drawing on the strangeness of creation myths rather than simply throwing waves of monsters at the player. For players who enjoy sustained psychological pressure, that atmosphere may be one of the game's strongest assets.

That pressure also feeds directly into Gu Shen: Feng Lixi's unusual combat system. The game's signature Dueling Magic Gauge replaces the traditional health bar. Every attack pushes a shared divine-power gauge, turning each exchange into a contest over who can seize control.
