Little Nightmares IIILittle Nightmares 3 Behind the Scenes Confirmed for June 12
Bandai Namco Entertainment has announced that Little Nightmares III: The Backstage will launch on June 12, 2026 for PlayStation5, PlayStation4, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Steam. According to Bandai Namco, this DLC takes players into the darkest part of the Carnevale, with new puzzles and challenges, a new character called Nozo, and a new threat tied to the Puppeteer. The product listing also confirms that Little Nightmares III itself is due on October 10, 2025, published by Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe S.A.S. as a suspense adventure.
The more interesting part is the design emphasis. This does not look like a throwaway add-on area. Instead, it appears to build more directly on the series' light-based ideas, using them for both storytelling and puzzle-solving. That is the right call for Little Nightmares, because the series has never relied on combat. Its real strength is oppressive environments and the feeling of vulnerable characters trying to survive.
In this new content, Low meets Nozo, a new character wearing a headlamp hat. The hat looks like more than a visual flourish. As the two children search for a way out behind the curtains of the Carnevale, the lamp looks set to do several jobs at once: light the space, guide the way forward, reveal danger, and shape how the two characters work together.

More importantly, the phrase "searching for a way out behind the curtains" is especially promising. It is an ideal setup for blocked sightlines, silhouettes, deceptive light, and chase tension. Bandai Namco also explicitly says the pair must use their light to find a way to rescue Six from the Puppeteer. That suggests this is not just another atmospheric side trip. The DLC seems to have a clear objective built around light. Good horror puzzle design is not just about darkness; it is about giving players a reason to keep moving through it.

The harder part is not the art direction. It is camera behavior, interaction timing, and pacing in a two-character setup. The product information says the game supports offline 1 player and online 2 players, with Simplified Chinese subtitles. That means any new puzzle design has to work across both formats. It needs to read cleanly in solo play while still sharing information properly in co-op. If the headlamp mechanic requires one character to provide visibility while the other handles interaction, then sync errors, path blocking, and camera obstruction become obvious risk points. If those are mishandled, the DLC will start to feel rushed fast.

The release plan is pretty clear too. The trailer is tied to the Secrets of the Spiral Expansion Pass, which suggests Bandai Namco wants post-launch content for the main game to feel like an ongoing rollout rather than a one-off extra. With the base game arriving on October 10, 2025 and The Backstage following on June 12, 2026, the schedule fits the usual post-launch rhythm for suspense adventure games: launch the core release first, build discussion, then use expansion content to pull attention back.
For players already committed to the series, the main draw here will be the atmosphere and the puzzle design. For anyone still undecided, the more useful questions can only be answered after launch: how long the DLC is, how well it adapts to co-op, and how much it does with the headlamp mechanic beyond repeating existing ideas.

Based on what has been shown so far, Little Nightmares III: The Backstage looks promising. The new character has a clear gameplay function, the new threat has a defined target, and the setting suits the series well. Whether the DLC really lands, though, will depend less on how the trailer sells suspense and more on whether its puzzles, chase sequences, and co-op design meaningfully build around the headlamp. With Simplified Chinese subtitles confirmed and a full multi-platform release locked in, the remaining question is execution once it goes live on June 12, 2026.
