"Metro 2039" Gameplay Trailer Released: Can It Deliver on Winter 2026?

I'll give it a 7 first. Because Winter 2026 is really far away. Everyone knows delays for console games have become the norm. 4A Games' past reputation has been relatively quite good. But this time, I can't help but feel a bit uneasy. After all, too many major titles of the year have ultimately crashed and burned. The waiting process is always particularly nerve-wracking.

The gameplay trailer visuals indeed look top-notch. The atmosphere in the dark tunnels is nailed quite well. This reminds me of the feeling when playing the original Metro back in the day. That sense of oppression is rarely seen nowadays. However, doesn't the lighting effect seem a bit too bright? The details in the ruins are recreated quite faithfully.

The official announcement mentions this scene with the mutant giant rat lunging straight at the camera. This kind of Jump Scare is actually quite cliché. But having said that, getting a scare is actually not bad. Current games lack this kind of tension too much. I hope the combat system doesn't appear too modernized. After all, the monster designs back then were truly classic.

Launching on PC and console platforms is indeed a great thing. To put it plainly, having more choices for players is never wrong. I suggest waiting until media reviews are out before picking it up. After all, no one's money comes easily. Veteran players only trust the experience after truly completing the game. Unless it can truly surpass the quality level of the previous work.
