Microsoft has dropped pre-order pricing on three Xbox exclusives in Europe, cutting costs from €79.99 to €69.99—a €10 reduction across the board. The three titles—Fable, Forza Horizon 6, and Gears of War: E Day—are now available at the adjusted price (roughly 549 yuan at current rates).
Forza Horizon 6 is shaping up to be this generation's most anticipated racing game, while Fable and Gears of War: E Day anchor Microsoft's flagship lineup for the years ahead. The new price undercuts the €79.99 (approximately 626 yuan) benchmark Microsoft recently set for AAA releases—a figure already drawing criticism across the industry.

Microsoft has yet to explain why. The move suggests a broader shift toward flexible pricing: instead of slapping the same €79.99 tag on every big release, the company appears to be tailoring costs per title—a notable reversal from its recent standardization push.
Not every game is following suit, though. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 still carries its original top-tier price in European storefronts, which means the pricing flexibility applies selectively rather than across the board. If you've been on the fence about that one, it might be worth waiting to see how the post-launch dust settles.

The €10 difference is now a more manageable ask—pre-order now and, if the game delivers, you're ahead of the curve. Pay full price later and you risk buyer's remorse if it doesn't live up to expectations.
