Onimusha: Way of the Sword New Gameplay Revealed, What Capcom Showed
Onimusha: Way of the Sword debuted a new combat gameplay demo during Capcom's presentation on the morning of June 26, and GameGeeker published the article alongside related screenshots. The video in the original post is currently marked "under review," but even with the footage unavailable for now, the new combat showcase is clearly the focus of the reveal. For now, the emphasis is squarely on how the game looks in motion.

This is a straightforward gameplay showcase rather than a lore-heavy tease. Capcom keeps the focus on combat instead of story setup. The footage puts melee combat front and center, making that the main takeaway for now. For longtime players, that is the useful part: in an action game, how it plays matters first.

A series like Onimusha always has to do more than trade on nostalgia. At least based on this demo, it does not look overly concerned with simply recreating the past. The footage and 5 attached screenshots show close-quarters fighting across several environments, which at least gives the combat some visual variety.

Is it worth watching? Yes, but one demo is not enough to prove much. Action game fans should keep an eye on hit impact, enemy design, and how busy each encounter feels in future footage. Series fans, meanwhile, will be looking for whether it still feels like Onimusha while meeting modern action-game standards. For now, one thing is clear: Onimusha: Way of the Sword is leading with combat, and the next reveal will need to back that up.
