Phantom Blade Zero Tops Presales, But Is Wuxia Really Ready to Break Out?
According to Gamersky, Lingyoufang opened preorders for Phantom Blade Zero on August 12 alongside a new 11-minute gameplay video, and the Chinese wuxia action game quickly climbed to No. 1 on Steam's global best-seller chart. The game is scheduled to launch on October 29 for PC and PS5, casting players as a swordsman whose heart has been gravely wounded, leaving him only 66 days to live as he hunts for the truth and tears apart a conspiracy hanging over the martial world.
Looked at as a standalone action game, the point is not simply that Phantom Blade Zero is a Chinese wuxia title. The bigger story is that Lingyoufang has packed market heat, playable footage, and a clear release date into a tight window. The premise is direct, the pitch is easy to grasp, and once preorders opened, a quick turn from wishlists to sales was hardly surprising.

The numbers make that momentum hard to dismiss as a one-day spike. Third-party tracker Gamalytic says Phantom Blade Zero has already passed 650,000 sales on Steam alone. Just as notable, Gamalytic estimates that the game has surpassed 1.6 million Steam wishlists, is adding about 6,300 new wishlists per day, has reached 611,000 followers, and currently ranks 13th on Steam's global wishlist chart. For an action game, that looks less like a nostalgia spike and more like healthy conversion.
If sales from PlayStation, Epic, WeGame, and TapTap PC are also counted, the total would be higher still.

Video reach is broadening the base too. The new official trailer has reached 6.98 million views on Bilibili, putting it close to 7 million. The official YouTube upload has 1.04 million views. On Douyin, the trailer has received 237,000 likes; using the original article's rough estimate that likes on popular videos account for about 5% of total views, that puts Douyin views above 1.1 million. Add reposted versions from PlayStation official channels, IGN, and other video platforms, and total online views above 10 million is not a stretch.

My view remains conservative. If the 11-minute gameplay video already sold you, and you know you will play on PC or PS5 at launch, treating a preorder as support for day-one access makes sense. If you care more about feel, boss density, and optimization, wait for the first wave of reviews after release.
The wider commercial push is already taking shape. ASUS ROG, Fortnite, JD.com, Hisense, GameSir, and Flydigi have all announced co-branded products with Phantom Blade Zero. That suggests this is being built as more than a one-off Steam spike. It is being positioned as a larger Chinese action IP.
