PS1's Crisis Beat Joins PS+ in May With No Trophy Support From Bandai Namco
Sony announced at February's State of Play that PS1 classic Crisis Beat will join PS Plus Extra and Premium tiers in May, landing on PS5 with likely PS4 support.

The three-month gap from reveal to launch is unusually tight for retro additions. Last year's PS2 classics took six months from announcement to actual rollout. But there's a catch with Bandai Namco releases—based on their track record, Crisis Beat almost certainly won't include trophy support. Capcom and Konami routinely add trophy sets to their retro ports; Bandai just doesn't bother.

Cross-platform differences matter less here than usual. PS5 gets visual polish and faster loading, while PS4 takes a hit on frame pacing and load times—but for a PS1-era game, the gap won't be dramatic. The real improvement comes from controller feel: the original's massive analog deadzone gets smoothed out on modern DualSense and DualShock 4 alike.

May's full Extra/Premium lineup hasn't dropped yet; Crisis Beat is just the early confirmation. If you're already subscribed, it's a freebie worth trying. Paying specifically for this game makes no sense—wait for the complete monthly reveal. The free rotation already has plenty of action games, and there's no compelling reason to commit over a single trophy-less retro title.
