SlashZero made its first public appearance at the PC Gaming Show on June 8, 2026, where Streetlamp premiered a new trailer built around fresh gameplay footage. The pitch is clearer this time: 3D side-scrolling action, four "Authorities" representing four distinct combat styles, and more than 100 possible builds across runs. Streetlamp also confirmed that the game will bring an optimized version to the 2026 Nuclear Fusion Game Carnival Shenzhen, running June 27-28 at the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center. The game is still in development, so any real judgment can wait.
For now, a 7/10 read on the trailer feels fair. The reason is simple: the trailer at least makes an effort to show how the game actually works instead of hiding behind concept art and a pile of fashionable keywords. Side-scrolling action, roguelite progression, cyberpunk, and timeline-hopping are all familiar enough on their own, and stacking them together can just as easily turn into a mess. Plenty of projects sell a big premise and then ship combat that feels weightless. SlashZero, at minimum, is much clearer this time about what the player is supposed to be doing.

The strongest part of the new trailer is not the headline concept, but the way those four Authorities map onto four different combat paths. Streetlamp describes the core idea as "Define your own combat", which sounds like standard marketing copy until you look at what the footage is actually showing. In-run upgrades appear to change moves and visual effects, with tactics shifting accordingly. That already feels more substantial than build systems that boil down to a small crit bonus in a stat menu. If the game can make more than 100 builds feel noticeably different, then its repeat-run structure has a real foundation.

For an action roguelite, the bigger risk is usually execution: whether the controls and camera hold up once combat gets busy. Streetlamp is pushing aerial combo combat as a system built specifically for 3D side-scrolling action, and that is exactly the kind of feature that often falls apart in practice. The trailer does show speed, layered effects, and a visual style that feels distinct, but lock-on behavior, hit feedback, and landing rhythm are the details that only a hands-on build can prove.

On paper, the narrative setup makes sense. SlashZero is a 3D anime-style roguelite action platformer set in a cyberpunk world on the verge of temporal collapse, with players taking the role of a Time Hacker, moving through shattered timelines to eliminate the forces of Yeloso. The game ties that collapsing-world premise to repeated death loops and meta progression, and the developers openly cite Hades as an influence for its deeper narrative structure. That approach can work, provided it learns more than just the routine of dying and returning home for more dialogue. Streetlamp has already said that more new characters will join the world of SlashZero in the future, bringing greater power to the fight against Yeloso, with additional character details to be shared through the community later on.
The broader feature list matches what the trailer shows: a cyberpunk setting and 3D anime visuals, run-based customization, an aerial combo combat system designed for 3D side-scrolling action, and story progression that unfolds gradually across multiple runs and deaths. The footage also shows more of the game's visual direction, control feel, and out-of-run progression systems, while reiterating that each run can play out differently as you move across timelines and shape your build.
If you are interested now, SlashZero can already be searched and wishlisted on Steam, PlayStation 5, and the Epic Games Store. The advice is simple: do not get carried away before launch. Watch the reaction to the optimized demo version at the 2026 Nuclear Fusion Game Carnival Shenzhen, where the team will also offer merchandise, meet players face to face, and collect feedback. If that offline build proves the controls, aerial combat stability, and meta progression pacing are all working together, SlashZero can move from promising to the real thing. If the post-event conversation is still mostly about flashy effects, then it is probably still a long way from finished.
The announcement also points players to the Steam page, the official website, the official QQ group, and the game's official Bilibili, Xiaoheihe, and Xiaohongshu accounts for follow-up information.
