Eerie Restaurant's Free Steam Next Fest Demo Legalizes God-Slaying
Strange Restaurant — a space-restaurant management game with automation and dark humor — has released a free Chinese-language Demo on Steam. Players cook for deities, and here's the twist: gods that attack your establishment can be killed in self-defense. Harvest their brains, build robot staff to handle orders, billing, prep, cooking, and delivery — and those machines can fight back. The result earns a 7/10.
The core loop goes: cook → deity rages → self-defense → collect brains → build robots. That's a steeper chain than most early-access management titles. The robot design is genuinely clever though — deity brains become workers, which is exactly the kind of twisted repurposing that defined the best GBA-era indie brain-teasers. Space roach infestations can be processed into ingredients, and TV advertising can brainwash deities into spending twice as much per dish.
The Demo makes the god-slaying loop tactile and immediate — which is a stronger hook than any trailer could manage. But there's a real question about depth. The full release could easily ship with shallow systems, which is the genre's persistent trap. Try the Demo if the concept hooks you. Management-game purists should hold off until post-launch impressions are in.
