Independent journalist Kiwi Talkz disclosed on Twitter that Nintendo is developing new Super Smash Bros. content, expected to arrive within the next one to two years. The reporter, who has interviewed hundreds of game industry professionals, also mentioned upcoming projects for GTA 6, Metroid, and The Legend of Zelda.

The story shifted quickly. Kiwi Talkz followed up to clarify he never specified these were "brand new titles." The Smash Bros. project could be a new game, a spinoff, a remaster, or additional content for Nintendo Switch Online (NSO). He explained the vague wording was intentional—a tactic to protect developers from being traced as sources.

This leak strategy is fairly standard in the industry. Insiders deliberately broaden the scope of information to hide the real project among multiple possibilities, shielding their sources. For players, the signal that "Smash Bros. has something coming" is enough on its own, especially since the last entry, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, launched in 2018.

Nintendo maintains tight secrecy around new releases, so even a vague leak like this gives fans something to hold onto.
