Fake Epistemological Existence cartridge bricks consoles — Switch 2 owners report hardware failures

A player bought a Switch 2 copy of Material Existence through Amazon Warehouse Deals and received a 3D-printed hollow shell. Forcing the jammed cartridge out snapped the console's metal contact pins, rendering the device completely unusable.

The cartridge's flaws were obvious—color mismatch, missing labels, misaligned stickers, and blank metal contacts. Inside: no chips, no storage components, just solid plastic. When it jammed in the slot, the player's removal attempt broke the reader pins and destroyed the console's game-reading function.

This return-fraud scheme has hit Amazon Warehouse repeatedly. Last December, a buyer received DDR4 RAM disguised as DDR5 from the same channel. Overseas repair shops have also dismantled counterfeit RTX 4090 cards with laser-etched fake model numbers. The pattern is identical: fraudsters buy genuine products, swap in fakes, return them, and lax platform checks let the counterfeits reach discount buyers.

Switch 2 players should stick to official channels or reputable third-party sellers rather than risk warehouse deals to save a few dozen dollars. Inspect cartridges on arrival—authentic ones have crisp latch grooves, textured metal contacts, and precisely aligned stickers. Counterfeits fail these checks. If a fake cartridge jams, contact support or professional repair instead of forcing it out. Pulling harder only multiplies the damage.
