Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick told investors at the TD Cohen conference that Rockstar will not shed staff after GTA VI launches. The commitment is backed by numbers: Rockstar's turnover rate is exceptionally low, and Take-Two's overall attrition sits at roughly half the industry average.
The two-decade philosophy behind that promise matters. Zelnick abandoned the annual release cadence around 2005, a decision that looked questionable at the time. The logic, as he recalled it: many titles topping the charts in 2007 eventually faded because publishers chased quantity over depth. GTA VI, by contrast, ranked roughly fifth that year—but the franchise outlasted every competitor that rushed past it.
That pattern hasn't changed in Rockstar's eyes. Zelnick pointed out that several major publishers collapsed under the weight of sequel overload, diluting quality to maintain release schedules. Modern game scope and technical complexity have only extended development cycles, a reality Zelnick doesn't dispute. The bet is that stable teams produce better results than rotating pipelines.
Some players remain skeptical, questioning whether "quality over speed" serves as convenient cover for delays. It's a fair concern—elaborate open worlds still falter when content diversity fails to match ambition. With GTA VI now dated for November 19, 2025, Zelnick and Rockstar must demonstrate that patience translates into a finished product worth the wait.
