Witcher 3 Getting a New Expansion? LinkedIn Clues Mount

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is back at the center of DLC rumors after a public LinkedIn profile suggested a new Witcher project has been in production at partner studio Yigsoft since January 2026. The listed work covers gameplay systems and UI design, and the profile also mentions REDengine and WitcherScript. That combination matters because CD Projekt RED has already moved its future new titles to Unreal Engine 5, making the rumor look far more like fresh content for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt than anything tied to The Witcher 4.

Set against the game's 11-year history, the rumor carries a different weight. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has only ever received two major expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, and the latter felt close to a definitive farewell for Geralt. That is exactly why the community has kept circling back to the same question for years: will CD Projekt RED ever tell one more story in this version of the world?

The strongest clue is not nostalgia, but the toolset. The public resume says the project is using REDengine and WitcherScript, and that is hard to ignore. Since CDPR's later projects have fully shifted to Unreal Engine 5, any active Witcher work still being built with those older internal tools is much more likely to belong to The Witcher 3 than to The Witcher 4.

That still does not make this an announcement. Yigsoft's official website reportedly still lists Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty as "coming soon," which suggests the studio's public-facing information may be outdated for long stretches. So the studio page alone is not enough to lock the story down. Even so, a resume explicitly naming a new Witcher project, with responsibilities focused on gameplay and interface development, sounds less like early concept work and more like something that has moved well beyond a prototype stage.

From an RPG narrative perspective, the most interesting part of the rumor is not whether it adds a new map. It is what the content might be for. One industry theory has held that any new story chapter could serve as a bridge between the end of Geralt's arc and the broader setting of The Witcher 4. If that turns out to be true, this would not just be a nostalgic return. It would be a transition chapter, handing the old campfire to a new traveler.

Community reaction reflects that split. One side argues Blood and Wine was already a near-perfect ending, and attaching another chapter risks weakening its aftertaste. The other thinks that if the scale and quality can approach the first two expansions, even a shorter connective piece would be enough reason to ride back into White Orchard one more time. I lean toward the second view, with one condition: it needs to feel like a real expansion, not leftover scraps repackaged for release.

For returning players, the practical takeaway is to keep expectations centered on a formal reveal, not an immediate purchase. CD Projekt RED still has not officially announced any new DLC. Claims that the project is in a late stage of development and likely to be unveiled soon are still just the judgment of industry insiders and financial analysts, not a confirmed release plan. If you already own The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Game of the Year Edition, the better move right now is not to guess the price, but to replay Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. If this third major expansion is real, Geralt's old journey may be about to open again.
