It Takes Two Studio's A Way Out Follow-Up Launches April — Can This Co-Op Jailbreak Nail the Story?
Two Players, One Moon, No Solo Option: Together: Moon Escape Bets Everything on Mandatory Co-op

Together: Moon Escape launches April 22, 2026, on Steam and at PLAYCO offline stores nationwide, published jointly by COROGAMES, S.L. and Couchplay Interactive (Greater China). Spanish solo developer Carlos Coronado Muñoz built it with one hard rule: no single-player mode exists. You need a partner to even boot the game—a design choice that cuts off a chunk of the potential audience but might deliver something purer in return.

The setup leans into satire. Players are "Moonfishers" stuck on a moon ruled by Moontella Corporation's slime empire, not heroes but small figures trapped in an absurdist capitalist parable. Their escape carries a tragic undertone. Good sci-fi uses alien terrain to mirror real-world traps; whether this puzzle game can articulate that metaphor beyond its premise remains the open question.
Technically, the team did its homework. Built on Unreal Engine 5, the game runs at a stable 60fps on low-spec PCs and Steam Deck—pragmatism rare among indie releases. Lunar low-gravity physics opens unique puzzle possibilities, and both local split-screen and online co-op are supported. But the real test is differentiation: It Takes Two already pushed cooperative mechanics to their limit, and the We Were Here series proved narrative depth in two-player puzzles. What does Together: Moon Escape bring that those don't?

The mandatory-duo design is the gamble. Cutting solo play shrinks the market but could sharpen the narrative—some stories only work when two people walk through them together. The best road movies never cared about the destination; they cared what happened between travelers. If Coronado Muñoz understands that, April 2026 might give us a moon worth remembering.
