Xbox Series consoles may finally get dynamic wallpapers

Xbox executive Asha Sharma confirmed on social media that the company is developing dynamic backgrounds for Series X|S consoles, rolling out alongside the brand's fluorescent green visual refresh.

Sony's consoles have offered this feature for years. Switching to a dynamic theme on PS5 genuinely lifts the mood—Xbox's static images grow stale after extended use. The addition arrives late, but it's better than nothing.

Xbox hasn't disclosed a release date or design specifics. The initial batch will likely match the fluorescent green logo aesthetic, given the brand overhaul is already underway. Whether users can customize backgrounds with game screenshots like Sony's system remains unclear—that would add real utility.

For weekend players, this qualifies as a nice-to-have upgrade. Animated visuals at startup beat static images, similar to opening curtains on a Saturday morning. If it's a free update, the value is solid. Charging separately would be a hard pass for anyone with limited playtime.
