007 First Light drops tomorrow, but can a Bond origin story stand out?
According to Gamersky, IO Interactive’s 007: First Light launches on Steam and PSN on May 27 at 10 PM, with deluxe early access opening on May 22 at 10 PM. Framed as a grounded origin story, the spy action-adventure strips away James Bond’s legendary polish to explore his raw, formative days inside an MI6 training program. What it delivers, however, is a familiar thriller that leans heavily on cinematic staging while leaving its core mechanics firmly in place.
IO Interactive attempts to dismantle the flawless secret agent archetype right from the training sequence, where a young Bond methodically wipes down an unsharpened blade while the camera lingers on his tense jawline.
Gamersky’s storefront applies a 10% off pre-order discount, allowing 200 coins to offset 1 RMB (capped at a 29.8 RMB deduction), plus a 5 RMB voucher that pushes the final price down to 233.4 RMB. Every 1 RMB spent also returns 4 coins to your account. Pre-orders automatically upgrade to the deluxe edition, which includes four custom outfits, one weapon skin, and a shiny pack containing four items. Those cosmetic bonuses might lower the entry barrier, but they cannot replace mechanical depth. If immersive storytelling and character development drive your purchases, stepping into the training grounds during the early access window is the only way to verify whether this prequel actually holds up. Otherwise, wait until the systems catch up to the script.
