Assassin's Creed 4 remaster alters NPCs as Ubisoft tinkers again
Ubisoft's at it again with the edits.
Gaming blogger ScouterVee posted comparison screenshots showing Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag Remake has overhauled every female NPC. Clothing now covers everything, body proportions adjusted, and that rough-around-the-edges Caribbean pirate era vibe from the original? Gone. This isn't a graphics upgrade—it's a character redesign.

Player backlash makes sense. Black Flag depicts 18th-century pirate life, and that era looked a certain way. Ubisoft's now applying 2026 standards to a 2013 game, killing the historical atmosphere. It's like booting up Tekken and finding every fighter in a parka—how are you supposed to read frame data?

What should a remake do? Boost frame rates, tighten controls, squash bugs. Instead, Ubisoft spent resources reshaping NPC body types. Players want 60fps smooth gameplay and better hit feedback, not this baffling political correctness.
The worst part: Ubisoft still hasn't said a word. No explanation for the changes, no criteria for the adjustments—just barreling forward in silence. The Assassin's Creed series already has declining goodwill, and now even the remake pulls this stunt. How are longtime fans supposed to stay on board?
Wait for Ubisoft's official response before buying. If they keep radio silence, this remake's headed for disaster. Players pay for game experiences, not lectures.
