95 for Beast of Reincarnation, but are combat and exploration really that strong?

Beast of Reincarnation, the action RPG from Game Freak, has officially launched, and overseas reviews are now live. The highest-profile score here comes from VICE, which gave the game 95/100 and praised the way it brings together real-time combat and turn-based action, its layered difficulty, and its map movement and exploration.

VICE's key point is that the combat is not just a novelty hook. For an action RPG, that kind of pitch can fall apart quickly if the system feels like two separate modes stitched together. VICE argues that Beast of Reincarnation avoids that problem. Its real-time combat and turn-based actions fit together naturally, so fights keep moving while still asking players to think ahead.

The difficulty curve also seems to be one of the game's stronger design choices. VICE says the game does not lean too heavily toward only one audience. Casual players can make steady progress through the main path, while hardcore players can still dig into execution, systems knowledge, and mastery. That kind of layered structure usually does more for long-term engagement than simply inflating enemy stats.

That balance also makes the buying advice fairly clear. If action RPGs often feel too demanding at the entry point, this should be the more approachable version of the genre. If you are looking for a sharper challenge, VICE's assessment suggests the game gives you enough room to keep sharpening your play.

Exploration is the other major strength in VICE's review. VICE highlights map movement and route-finding as strong points, with movement and route-finding apparently doing much of the work. The caveat is that the flow can break when players misuse the hair ability and reach areas that are not meant to be open yet. In those cases, clipping and soft locks can occasionally appear.

Performance is the less settled part. VICE notes frame-rate drops and performance fluctuations in a small number of areas, which matters in a game where combat timing is part of the appeal. A day-one patch has already fixed some of these problems, and further updates are still planned, so the underlying design seems stronger than the current technical finish.

VICE also points out that enemy variety and attack animations could use more depth. That leaves Beast of Reincarnation in a fairly clear spot: it looks like a game with a strong systems foundation, but its content variety and technical polish still need work.

The recommendation is straightforward. If you care most about combat innovation and a strong exploration rhythm, Beast of Reincarnation is worth playing now. If stable frame rates, richer enemy variety, and more polish matter more to you, it makes sense to wait for later updates.
