BioShock Infinite Early Build Surfaces, Still Unconfirmed
An early October 2012 build of BioShock Infinite has surfaced on the archive site The Hidden Place. What can be confirmed so far is simple: it does not run normally, but it does let users reach the main menu and inspect internal files. That makes this leak more than a curiosity. It pushes the game’s “almost finished” stage back into view and turns a development phase that used to live only in memory into something concrete again.

The most noticeable difference in the build is not a stage or a boss, but a completely overhauled UI. Digging deeper also turns up unknown models and a map called "Sky_TestMap". In practice, it feels less like a polished slice of the final game and more like finding an unused concept page in an old notebook: not every detail is immediately useful, but you can tell there is real material underneath.

For now, the build’s authenticity has not been officially confirmed, so it is better treated as community archaeology than as a formal archive. Even so, BioShock Infinite early builds have been mined for years, with deleted enemies, weapons, levels, storylines, and even traces of multiplayer all turning up over time. The December build also included debug functions and technical files for three platforms, which is the kind of evidence that makes it hard to dismiss these leaks as random fan-made mockups.
If you are the kind of player who likes tracing how a game changes from idea to shipping product, this sort of leak is genuinely valuable. It shows why UI was altered, why certain levels were cut, and why some systems disappeared. Final builds rarely explain those decisions. Early material does, even when it is incomplete. A broken build, a few unused models, and a map name like "Sky_TestMap" can still reveal a surprising amount about how BioShock Infinite was built.
