"Borderlands 4" DLC Too Expensive? $29.99 Only Worth Two Hours?
Gearbox moved fast this time, dropping the first story DLC for Borderlands 4, Wild Ellie and the Cursed Vault, directly this week. Everyone thought it would be a feast, but after taking a bite, players said it was barely enough to sink their teeth into. As an FPS blockbuster focusing on the thrill of shooting, content volume directly determines sustained player enthusiasm.

Priced at $29.99, this cost is nearly catching up to some complete indie games. What's even more outrageous is that without rushing, the entire DLC can be cleared in about 2.5 hours. The gun farming hasn't even warmed up before the story ends. The new Vault Hunter "Robin Banks" is somewhat interesting, with a skill tree design fitting the Raider style, but paying $30 just for this single character? The player community is full of complaints, with "This content is far from worth its price" becoming a frequent comment.

Veteran players should remember that developer Gearbox previously sold DLC and characters separately in Borderlands 3; this move is old hat for them. Even the whales who spent $130 on the "Super Deluxe Edition" are baffled; this new DLC is surprisingly not included. This means if you want to experience the complete content, you have to keep pumping money in. For a game intended for long-term operation, this pricing strategy is undoubtedly eroding player trust.

As FPS enthusiasts, we pursue a thrilling shooting experience and a rich loot loop. If the content volume doesn't support the pricing, even the best gunplay feels hard to compensate for the discomfort of being ripped off. Compared to previous titles, this pricing strategy is obviously too aggressive. Although new weapons and enemy types have increased, the map exploration density is clearly insufficient.
It is recommended that shooters still on the sidelines not rush to buy it at full price. Wait for a discount, or see if subsequent updates will add free content to make up for the volume. After all, on Pandora, bullets can be picked up, but money must be spent wisely. For players who want to experience the new character, waiting for the Season Pass might be more cost-effective.
