Is Crimson Desert’s 1.12 Update Worth Returning For?
Crimson Desert rolled out its 1.12.00 patch on June 19, according to Gamersky. The update adds outdoor housing, 58 new housing items, 2 new crafting tools, and a long list of fixes and optimizations affecting Mac support and multiple playable characters. This article was produced and published by Gamersky.

The biggest addition in 1.12.00 is the new outdoor housing system. Players can now place items in the exterior space around their residence, and the addition of two crafting tools, the Workbench and the Loom, turns housing into a fuller craft-and-place loop rather than a simple decoration hunt.
Housing is the clear focus here. The patch adds 58 new housing items across facilities, lighting, decorations, and pet furniture, and it does not tie them to a single activity. Items and crafting methods can be obtained through the shop, the claw machine, flower basket crafting quests, Lucky Boxes, and rebound ball challenge quests, among other routes. That setup makes sense for a sandbox-style system: it does not force everyone down one path, and it lets different kinds of players build out their yard at their own pace.
The two new crafting tools feed directly into that system. The Workbench can be used in places such as Grey Mane Camp and Tibohim Sawmill, while the Loom is available in places such as Hernand Clothing Shop. The related housing items can be crafted at those stations. That makes this feel like a broader system expansion rather than a one-off drop.
Combat-focused players get additions too, even if housing is the headline. All weapons now gain combo moves while gliding. Demian and Onka can now wear Bigione, use the Read Memory function, and ride the Deep Dark Star. Kliff gets 5 new helmets and 1 new armor piece, Demian gets 1 new glove called Honor Grey Mane Cloth Gloves, and the shared accessory pool adds 1 new item, the Grey Mane Seal. None of that dramatically changes the game, but it does round out character progression, especially for mid- to late-game players who care about build detail.
More notable is how much routine friction this patch removes. When retrying a boss fight after death or another failure, some adjusted settings from the previous attempt are now preserved, including knowledge, weapon slot state, equipped elements, hotbar state, and instant-use slot state. Load cutscenes now also play when logging in as Onka and Demian, while load times are slightly reduced. The patch also fixes or improves a wide range of quality-of-life issues, including enemy icons sometimes failing to appear on the minimap, inability to land, camera drift, abnormal autosave prompts, and NPC follow issues. On Mac, it separately fixes a keyboard-and-mouse issue that prevented placement of housing setup objects. They are not flashy, but they matter if you play regularly.
Beyond that, the patch includes a broad set of system changes. The Mirage Shop now sells a Lucky Box for 100 silver, with a purchase cap of 3 per restock. The update adds 51 new Collectibles - Contract knowledge entries, while also restoring acquisition routes for some knowledge that previously became unavailable after certain quests. After upgrading Logging Quality to Lv2, players will now receive high-grade wood. Strongholds under reconstruction can be challenged again. While aiming, interaction displays no longer trigger other actions, and a key guide has been added for the Dodge Burst Shot skill. The pet costume shop has been renamed the pet shop, and it now sells a Dudubird Food Storage Box and Dudubird Enhanced Food Storage Box.
The update also includes several skill and rules adjustments. The patch adjusts violation conditions for some skills in integrated duels. The Power Method: Jump skill can now be used in safe zones, and the Wind Veil Curtain can now be deployed during flight. When observing and learning the Wind Veil Curtain skill, Onka and Demian can now learn it as well. The skill effect triggered by using Quick Switch while holding a spear has been optimized. Demian receives a unique sitting animation, and the attack range of his unarmed Hurricane Kick has been adjusted. The Queen Bismuth Element back-stone crab gets a new attack mechanic, and wyvern dive behavior has been improved.
The bug-fix list is long. It includes issues involving disappearing pet eggs, crashes, abnormal map icons, quest bugs, performance drops, item problems, reward delivery errors, and more. Keyboard-and-mouse users can no longer pull out housing items in an invalid placement state. The issue that allowed Lightning Kick to be used in safe zones has been fixed. For Demian and Onka, the patch fixes a crash that occurred when completing camp expansion and fixes an issue with leaf effects displaying incorrectly. It also fixes the inability to fire continuously in the air when using Focus: Compressed Cannon and Focus: Precision Shot. For Onka, Split Cannon is now optimized to fire toward the aimed direction out of combat, and problems related to the rocket backpack, charge, and spinning heavy strike have also been addressed.
For returning players, this is a strong patch to come back on. Not because any single feature changes everything, but because housing, crafting, combat feel, convenience, and stability all improve at once. It reads more like a full systems cleanup than a single-feature patch. Players who enjoy slow-burn progression, camp decoration, side tasks, and knowledge collection should feel the benefits most clearly, and the addition of 51 new Collectibles - Contract entries reinforces that longer-term collection focus.
The recommendation is fairly straightforward. If what you value most in Crimson Desert is high-frequency PvP or pure boss challenge content, 1.12.00 is closer to a quality-of-life patch. But if you already see it as a hybrid of action adventure and life sim, outdoor housing alone is enough to justify jumping back in or continuing to build up your camp. As for the new 100 silver Lucky Box in the Mirage Shop, limited to 3 purchases per restock, it feels more like a side diversion than the point of the patch.
